History

Founded in 1905, Stewart Sneed Hewes has grown to rank among the 100 largest insurance agency/brokerage operations in the US and a regional leader in the Southeast.

In 1999, Stewart Sneed Hewes joined the family of BancorpSouth Insurance Services, a subsidiary of BancorpSouth, one of the South’s fastest growing financial institutions. BancorpSouth Insurance is the alliance of Arkansas’ prestigious Ramsey, Krug, Farrell & Lensing; Louisiana’s oldest agency, Wright & Percy Insurance; and most recently SMI Group in Missouri and JMG/IC Insurance Agency, Inc. in Texas. The BancorpSouth union provides the support of a multi-billion dollar institution for continued growth of the agency and the opportunities afforded by 290 banking locations ranging from Atlanta to Dallas.

Today, Stewart Sneed Hewes/BancorpSouth is a regional insurance brokerage operation with the capacity to provide insurance and risk management programs for commercial clients that are regional, national and international in their scope of operations.
